Bud Rodecker and John Pobojewski designed and developed this online platform for the STA 100, a design competition hosted by the Society of Typographic Arts recognizing up to 100 best examples of typographic excellence annually.

With limited resources and only a few volunteers, the STA needed to find a way to make the competition sustainable financially and operationally for the organization. Our solution was to design the entire competition around a single online platform programmed in the Craft CMS — from promotion, to entries, to judging, to exhibiting, to archiving. Every aspect of the competition was available online, allowing greater accessibility for any designer to enter the competition as well as experience the winning entries.

While the competition is open, the theme of the website changes to update the secondary typeface, color theme, and featured '100' design.

The site archives all past winners and studios, allowing visitors to browse through the competition's history.

Black and white backgrounds allow any work in the archive to look its best.

Entries are easily uploaded and managed by the users themselves — no printed samples need to be returned or stored.

The account portal allows users to manage their own entries, as well as check receipts, update personal information, and pay by credit card using Stripe.

Judging is all tallied via the online platform, allowing the competition coordinator to keep track of the winners.

When the competition is closed, the site serves as an archive and reference for design students anywhere.
