Designed while at Thirst

Jonathan Solomon and David Hays, publishers of Forty-Five, opened an independent gallery for off-grid art, architecture, and culture. Embedded in the Chicago Pedway, an underground passageway of tunnels, parking garages, and forgotten retail, p11 explores “diverging futures and visionary alternatives to modernist progress.”

We conceived a dynamic visual identity around “the ruins of capitalism,” a setting for much of the dimly-lit spaces located “on the Pedway.” The identity manifests as a series of visual scribbles, all with a similar frenetic spirit, speaking to the quick craftsmanship of hand-drawn signs.
