In celebration of the 50th anniversary of Earth Day, Span created this short trailer highlighting SOM’s efforts towards addressing climate change through architecture and urbanism. Built projects and bold ideas highlight actions taken towards decarbonizing cities and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Span, led by John Pobojewski, shaped the narrative in collaboration with an interdisciplinary panel of partners from offices around the world.

Span brought data from the firm’s Global Inventory to life, expressing how existing conditions within cities can better inform and inspire design thinking across the practice.

Proposing ideas

The film promotes new ideas to be in continuum with built projects within SOM’s rich history. While not yet realized, these conceptual projects propose unexpected thinking at incredible scales that emerges from the firm’s multiple disciplines all working together.
