Prairies, wetlands, woodlands, and waterways surround Chicago. They sustain the region, and most people never see them. Chicago's Living Habitat brought those landscapes into the gallery. Span worked with the Chicago Architecture Center and Openlands to design the exhibition — the brand that carried it and the way its images met visitors in the space.
In the gallery, the photographs do the work. We designed their presentation to give each landscape room to register — scale, sequence, and pacing that pull visitors through the region and into their own place within it.
