Span collaborated with Intuit Art Museum to design compelling exhibition graphics for their inaugural exhibitions: “Catalyst: Im/migration and Self-taught Art in Chicago,” “Highlights from the Intuit Art Museum Collection,” and “Henry Darger: The Room Revealed.” The project began with the creation of comprehensive graphic guidelines, establishing a clear and cohesive system aligned with the museum's new visual standards.
Using this graphic system as a foundation, Span tailored unique visual identities for each exhibition. The scope of work included designing title walls, interpretive didactics, and all object labels.
Span specified Falconboard, a fully recyclable material resembling elevated corrugated cardboard, to echo the museum’s architectural philosophy. This material choice visually connects to the museum’s preservation approach, honoring historical layers by intentionally exposing existing brickwork, paint, and wallpaper.
