Cornelius Griggs is the founder of GMA, one of Chicago's largest minority-owned construction firms. Span was commissioned to create a short film that tells his incredible story from growing up in tough neighborhoods on the city‘s west side as part of the State‘s foster system to founding and growing GMA.

Created in partnership with filmmaker Carlos Javier Ortiz, the piece features Griggs ”in portraiture” within locations that were important to his coming of age. 35mm film stock was used to capture the spirit of the past interwoven within modern digital cinematography.
