The Academy for Global Citizenship (AGC) is a public charter school on the Southwest Side of Chicago. Its innovative and holistic approach to education aims to foster systemic change and inspire the way society educates our future generations.
Span was tasked with creating a bold and beautiful new brand for AGC that reflects the innovation of its educational model, supports the dual language needs of its students and families, and flexes to accommodate a variety of branded touchpoints.
Span worked with AGC to evolve its graphic identity to move to the future while reflecting their past. The new mark simplifies their old logo and keeps the essential core intact. Removing the extra symbolism allows the new mark to lean into the visual metaphor of growth and intersection. It’s a seed, a flower, many voices coming together. This simplicity ensures that all graphic executions are simple and direct.
Process
The new Academy for Global Citizenship logo was derived from their existing mark. The interlocking circles that create the simplified logo speak to the six AGC roots, the school's integration with its community at large, and the seeds of knowledge planted here that will grow to positively impact the Southwest Side of Chicago and the world beyond.
