What if buildings could act like trees — capturing carbon, purifying the air, and regenerating the environment? International architecture firm SOM envisions “forests” of buildings that sequester carbon and produce biomaterials to create a new carbon economy and a resilient urban environment.

Span created a short film that premiered at the UN's Climate Change Conference COP26 introducing SOM’s design concept to an audience of international government stakeholders and industry leaders. Axonometric diagrams were illustrated and animated to explain the network of carbon sequestration that could happen in multiple building types and across entire cities.
